A busy weekend of action for our underage teams, with plenty of goals, battling performances and some great moments across the age groups.
🔵 U14 Girls Div 3
Rathkeale v St Ita’s
The girls made the trip to the Deel side on Saturday morning and produced an excellent attacking display, finding the net six times.
There were standout performances throughout the team, with Ava Maye Scanlon and Naoise Cronin both completing impressive hat-tricks. 👏⚽⚽⚽
A fantastic result and a brilliant team performance from the girls.
🔵 U12 Girls – Group C
St Ita’s 2–2 Broadford B
Broadford won 7–6 on penalties
The Saints welcomed neighbours Broadford to Ashford for a noon kick-off in an entertaining and closely fought encounter.
Broadford made the brighter start and took the lead after eight minutes, holding their advantage until half-time.
The Saints came out strongly after the break and, following a spell of sustained pressure, deservedly found the equaliser, with Gerianna Scanlon stepping up to play her part for the team.
With just ten minutes remaining, Broadford regained the lead, but the Saints showed great character to respond once again. Ella Curtin found the net five minutes later to make it 2–2.
With the scores level at full-time, the game went to a penalty shootout to decide the outcome.
Both goalkeepers produced some excellent saves during a dramatic shootout, with Broadford eventually edging it 7–6 on penalties.
A hugely competitive game and plenty for the Saints to be proud of. 👏🔵
🔵 U15 Boys – SFAI National Cup
St Ita’s v Croom
The lads faced a very strong Croom side in the SFAI National Cup.
The visitors controlled much of the first half and established a strong advantage before the break.
The Saints battled hard after half-time but conceded another goal as Croom continued to apply pressure.
Despite the scoreline, the lads continued to compete and were desperately unlucky not to get the consolation their second-half efforts deserved, with an effort thundering off the underside of the crossbar before bouncing away to safety.
A tough afternoon against a strong opposition, but credit to the lads for continuing to battle right until the final whistle. 👏
