The Reserves welcomed Rathkeale B to Ashford this afternoon for a thrilling encounter featuring seven goals, two penalties, and a spirited second-half comeback.
St. Ita’s opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Darren Fitz was brought down in the penalty area. He stepped up and confidently converted the resulting spot kick to give the Saints an early advantage. However, the visitors responded strongly, netting three goals before the interval to take a commanding 3–1 lead into half-time.

The Saints began the second half with renewed determination. Ten minutes after the restart, Adam Curtin pulled one back with a well-struck effort into the bottom corner. Continued pressure from Ita’s led to a second penalty when Jamie Ryan was fouled in the area. Darren Fitz again made no mistake from the spot, bringing the sides level.

With ten minutes remaining, the Saints completed their remarkable turnaround. Darren Fitz struck once more to secure his hat-trick and seal a memorable 4–3 victory for the home side.
