Underage this week.
On the non competitive side both the U10 Girls and Boys travelled to Athea United A.F.C for some brilliant game. The U6’s and U8’s were in Broadford United Afc Saturday morning to showcase their talents.
On the competitive side it was a tough Saturday
First to take the field was the U13 Girls. They were on the losing side in a 5 goal thriller. Leading 2-1 at half time thanks to long distance strikes from Sinead Moloney, game was level half way through 2nd half and Newcastle West Town Fc grabbed the winner with last kick of the game. Girls can hold their heads high all played excellent, all subs were used and contributed brilliantly as they were introduced.
U12 Boys were the middle game of 3 at home when they welcomed league leaders Ballingarry Afc to Ashford. It was always going to be a tough game and the lads gave as good as they got in the first half going in at HT 1-1 thanks to a goal from Daniel Clifton. 2nd half the lads will be disappointed as they conceded a couple of soft goals to allow the visitors take a comfortable win. There was enough quality play in first half to show if the lads apply themselves they will be in the hunt come the end of the season.
Final game was the U16 Boys match against Kilcolman Rovers A.F.C. The lads took the field with only 10 players with a couple of the lad’s missing. Lads can be proud of their 1st half performance with the numerical disadvantage. They held out for 20 minutes in the 2nd half before they fell behind. That’s how it finished 1-0 to the visitors.
