We went into the game knowing we’d have to play to the best of our ability to get a result.
The home side settled the quicker, moving the ball well, a ball down the right wing was latched onto by Adam o kelly who effort was parried by Sean Richards into the path of Kenny lunch who finished from 6 yards in the 12th minute.
The hosts continued to have the lions share of the ball in the middle third but never really troubled our goal bar a snap shot from the edge of the box just after the half hour which Richards pushed behind for a corner. It was from a corner 5 minutes before the break where Broadford doubled their lead. A lapse in concentration allowed a quick corner to the edge of the box which was dispatched by Jack pierce through a sea of bodies.
Ht 2-0. Two simple errors which we were punished from.
2nd half went like the first, the home side moving the ball with speed but without much penetration. Ita’s had a rare foray into Broadfords box when TJ Kelly’s acrobatic bicycle just whizzed over the crossbar on the hour mark.
It was another error which gifted our hosts their 3rd goal. A rash tackle by Eamon up ending the onrushing striker and giving a penalty in the 70 minutes. Micheál Brosnan slotting it home into the bottom right corner.
With the saints pushing forward for a consolation goal it was bound to leave space at the back. A long punt forward was received by Danny mullane on the edge of the box and his strike struck the crossbar and rebounded into the path of Adam o kelly to tap home from close range in the 4th minute of added time.
Ft 4-0. While the host deserved the win with better play, the fact they were gifted soft goals made the task even harder for the Saints
