The U14 Girls played in a bright but blustery Ashford against ballingarry this morning in a cup game.
Our girls started well playing up the hill in the 1st half controlling play but were caught by a quick counter attack to go a goal down. The kept their head up and continued to control the play without reward
HT 0-1
2nd half continued in the same vein with Ita’s having plenty of the ball and got an equaliser when Ella Fitzpatrick riffled a shot to the roof of the net. Unfortunately we were caught with another quick break to go behind again. With 3 minutes to go Emily scanlon pulled it back all level.
FT 2-2 Extra time beckoned

1st period of extra a time was a cagey affair with no side wanting to commit too many players forward
HT in extra time 2-2

2nd period the girls pushed on with the same intent they had shown earlier in the game and were duly rewarded with 2 goals to take the win. Ava Maye Scanlon with the 1st and Cathy Casey scoring with the last kick of the game.
