The Saints welcomed Creeves Celtic to Ashford for 3rd Rd of the league cup, in what can only be described at atrocious conditions. As poor as conditions were both sides gave their all with the saints with the more clear cut chances. We took the lead just before the break when a cross from the right by Ben Mulcahy was finished to the net by the sliding Paul Fitzmaurice at the front post.
H-T 1-0
Second half we had the more chances without really working their keeper. We doubled our lead 15 minutes into the half when a long kickout from Sean richards got caught in the swirling wind and evaded their defender, Peter Mulcahy ran on the loose ball and finish well from edge of the box.
The goal stirred the visitors in action and they got hold of the ball more probing and pressing our defence. They were rewarded with a goal in the 90th minute. But it was too little too late
FT 2-1
This results put the lads through to the semi-finals of the league cup due to be played later in the season
