The junior team got a win in 1st round of league cup this morning away to Rathkeale AFC. We got off to a poor start conceding a penalty in the 6th minute, but Sean richards made a good save to keep the game scoreless. We grew into the game as the half progressed taking the lead in the 13th minute through Paul Fitzmaurice. The lead was doubled 10 minutes later by Callum Donoghue. The host pulled a goal back in the 31st minute through another penalty dispatched by Gary enright. The was all square going into the break as rathkeale equalised on the stroke of half-time.    H-T 2-2
2nd half we imposed ourselves on the game more but just couldn’t get the goal to take the lead. Multiple subs in the 70th minute brought fresh legs on and this allowed us to put more pressure on the hosts. We finally got the breakthrough in the 90th minute through a TJ Kelly goal. The saints were reduced to 10 men for the final few minutes but held on for the win. Great start to our premier season.
